Powerful yet smart robots

Yaskawa's focus at Hannover Messe is on "Total System Solutions" for Industry 4.0. This means fully integrated and communication-based system solutions from control panels through to robots. The latest automation solutions of this kind for Motoman robots will also be on display on the stand of the Yaskawa subsidiary Vipa.

A demonstration cell containing a Motoman MH5F handling robot will illustrate the Yaskawa approach to Total System Solutions. Yaskawa is supplying not only the Motoman robots and the Vipa-SPS but also the frequency converters and servotechnology. The control system and robots are linked via the MotomanSync interface. This allows the robot to be programmed directly from the Vipa control system. It can be operated with ease using the SPS control panel (HMI). The robot job is saved in the PC itself or in the SPS. This then issues real-time movement commands to the robot. The Yaskawa-developed protocol also supports SPSen from various other manufacturers and PC-based control systems.


Rapid-acceleration palletising robots

In terms of hardware, a floorstanding MPL160 demonstrates the potential of innovative industrial robots in many different industries. The 4-axis palletising robot with a load capacity of 160 kg combines maximum acceleration and fast axis speeds with outstanding agility. Thanks to its slim design, however, it only requires a minimum amount of floorspace. Like all models in the MPL range, the Motoman MPL160 has interior operating media lines, including four air lines and 22 electrical lines. These are fed through the inside of the robot arm through to the head joint. This makes complex movement sequences possible. And it also protects the tube packages. If required, all MPL robots can be supplied with tailor-made palletising robot software.
